General Information and Work History:

Seema has 14 years’ experience in mental health services and has worked extensively with children, young people individually, as well as in group and family settings. She initially trained as a social worker and specialized in child & adolescent mental health, having undertaken a variety of roles within this setting. This was preceded by several years in the field of child protection. Seema has worked as a University Counsellor since 2012, and began private practice in 2013. Seema is also an approved counsellor for Victim Support.

Areas of focus:

Seema’s particular areas of interest are working with migrants; the interface of cultural, spiritual and clinical issues; working with children and adolescents; family work; parenting, and working with children and families where parental mental illness is present. Her approaches to working with clients utilize a systemic framework, within which she uses a variety of models, including acceptance and commitment, cognitive, solution-focused and narrative therapies.
